Women’s Care Throughout Life

Hormone Replacement Therapy

What are the Signs and Symptoms of Hormonal Imbalance in Women?

Hormonal imbalances occur when there is too much or too little of a hormone in the bloodstream. Because of their essential role in the body, even the smallest hormonal imbalance can cause side effects throughout the body. There are a variety of symptoms of hormone imbalance in women including:

  • Fatigue
  • Night sweats
  • Hot flashes or flushes
  • Decreased sex drive
  • Weight gain
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Irritability
  • Anxiousness
  • Mood swings
  • Low mood
  • Discomfort during intercourse

Hormone replacement therapy may help relieve stress, foggy thinking, weight gain, sleep disturbances or other symptoms. Some patients start to feel the benefits of hormone therapy in as little as four weeks, but full hormone optimization can take up to six months, depending on the individual’s needs, as well as the reinsertion plan that they decide to adopt.

Contraceptive Planning

The certified nurse-midwives at Nacogdoches Women’s Services respect your choices and views. We listen carefully to what a woman wants, take into consideration her medical needs, and work together to develop an individual care plan. We are here to help educate you about your contraceptive choices.

Pre-Conception Counseling

A healthy pregnancy and birth begin before conception.

When planning for a family, it is natural to have questions. The midwives in Nacogdoches can help you by meeting with you before pregnancy. Our certified nurse-midwives can help better prepare you for conception by suggesting healthy changes in diet and lifestyle.

Prenatal Care

At Nacogdoches Women’s Services, we want you to feel confident about the pregnancy process, labor, and parenting. Our prenatal care includes both physical examinations and education. During your prenatal visits, you will have plenty of time to ask questions about the physical and emotional changes that occur during pregnancy and birth, as well as any options concerning your child.

Prenatal visits can also include:

  • Comprehensive laboratory testing
  • Diagnostic ultrasound and imaging for dating, gender, anatomy scans, and biophysical profiles
  • Vital checks for you and baby

Managed High-Risk Prenatal Care

Our certified nurse-midwives want you to have the best and safest pregnancy and delivery possible. Sometimes, this means working closely with an obstetrician to avoid serious problems. For high-risk pregnancies, your midwife will continue to focus on a healthy, natural process while partnering with your obstetrician to avoid and manage complications.

Labor and Birth Services

When it comes time to meet your little one, your midwife will meet you at the hospital to begin the birthing process. Our patients deliver in the hospital so, should the need arise, we have all the necessary medical equipment available to provide you with the care you require.

If needed, our certified nurse-midwives are trained to initiate emergency procedures and to stabilize our patients and baby. We also have three supervising physicians on call. In the event of an unanticipated situation, your midwife will be there to offer all options available.

Postpartum Support

Postpartum support at Nacogdoches Women’s Services continues through the “4th trimester,” or the 12 weeks (about 3 months) following birth. These visits allow for additional support in the crucial first weeks of your baby’s life.
